She reportedly committed suicide on May 12, 2022, but her mother said that Sahana’s husband murdered her. Speaking to local police, Sahana’s mother said,
My daughter would never have committed suicide, she was murdered. She often complained to me that her husband beat her and did not feed her properly. She was tortured. She was murdered. The police must investigate and bring justice to my daughter. “
Soon after her mother made her statement, Sahana’s husband Sajjad was taken to the local police station for further investigation. When Sahana’s neighbor was interrogated, he said:
I heard Sajjad shouting for help and I rushed into the house. When I entered the house I saw his wife lying on his lap. When I asked him what happened, he said she wasn’t responding. So I asked him to take her to the hospital. Then we called the police and they were here within five minutes. “
