K. Sai Pratheek started playing sports at the age of nine. He started playing football but switched to badminton after he injured his knee. Pratik started badminton training at ITI Sports Club. He then started training with coach Krishna Kumar at I-Sports (Innovative Sports) Badminton School in Bangalore, Karnataka. In an interview, Pratik revealed that he starts training with coach BN Sudhakar at 4:30 am every day at the Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium in Bengaluru. He then does a two-hour session at 10:30 in the morning and another two-hour session in the evening. He went on to say that he focused on academics during training.
As of 2023, Pratik has won 1 runner-up spot in the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour and 3 titles and 5 runner-up spots in the BWF International Challenge/Series. In 2022, Mandya Bulls acquired Pratik for Rs. 3.50 lakh was auctioned at the Grand Prix Badminton League (GPBL) auction. However, Mandya Bulls lost in the final round of GPBL. Pratik was part of the Indian team that won the men’s team event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. His teammates include Prannoy HS, Lakshya Sen. Srikanth Kidambi, Mithun Manjunath, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Arjun MR, Dhruv Kapila and Rohan Kapoor.
As of 2023, Pratik is ranked 124th in the world in the men’s doubles category and 72nd in the mixed doubles category.
