Salil Jamdar is an Indian YouTuber, actor, singer, and writer who is known for making parody videos of Bollywood songs and funny videos, which he posts on his Instagram account and YouTube channel Salil Jamdar & Co.

Wiki/Biography

Salil Jamdar was born in Nagpur, India, and later his family decided to move to Thane, India. Salil completed his formal education in Thane and throughout his school life, he was a teacher’s pet and a topper in the school. After completing his schooling, Salil appeared for the IIT-JEE entrance exam, but his score was not good enough to get him into his dream school, IIT. Salil decided to join KJ Somaya College, Vidyavihar to pursue a course in Computer Engineering. He was not interested in the degree and he turned into a complete rebel and a backbencher. Salil started learning Hindustani classical music and he used to skip classes to practice Jagjit Singh’s Ghazals.

Profession

After completing his formal education, Salil joined Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a software company in Mumbai. However, after working for six months, Salil decided to quit and enrolled for a filmmaking and acting course at Whistling Woods International. While studying at the institute, Salil also learned the behavioral traits of many actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. Salil started his YouTube journey in 2014 through the YouTube channel Shudh Desi Endings. Later, the producers of Shudh Desi Endings invited Salil to start his own independent YouTube channel, which he founded in 2015, “Shudh Desi Gaane”. Salil started making spoofs and parody videos of various songs and movie plots. In 2016, Salil left “Shudh Desi Endings” and founded his own independent YouTube channel Salil Jamdar & Co., where Salil started making parody videos of songs and movies. He even focused on making some videos to create awareness about issues such as porn addiction.

  • Salil Jamdar founded Shudh Desi Gaane in 2015. After mastering the art of making parodies of Bollywood songs, Salil tried his hand at making parodies of English songs. His first project was Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk, which garnered over 100,000 views in its first week.

  • Salil Jamdar has a team of choreographers, directors and producers who take care of the technical and logistical requirements of the videos. According to Salil, the most challenging video he has ever shot was the parody video for the song of the same name by Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. For the video, he had to shave his hands and back and also had to dance barefoot in a 25 kg lehenga.
