die
He had been living in a rented apartment in Neha CHS building in Ashin Samarg, Malad West, Mumbai since February 2020. On August 6, 2020, the building security guard found his body hanging from the kitchen ceiling. A local police officer suspected that he had died two days ago as his body was emitting a foul odor. A case of accidental death was reported, and one of the police officers said,
We have not found any evidence to suggest that he might have been murdered. Also, no suicide note has been found in the house so far. We are still investigating the case.”
Commenting on his death, his friend and TV actor Avinash Sachdev said,
“I have been in touch with him during the lockdown; just two weeks ago, we were chatting on voice. He told me that he was lucky to come out of the low point in his life, that he had managed to beat the odds and was now busy with work. A few years ago, he fell ill and was hospitalized in Bengaluru and had a tough time. After he recovered, his parents did not let him return to Mumbai, but he came back and rented a flat near my home. In fact, on Wednesday evening, I passed by his lane and saw two fire brigades and a police car outside the building. I checked with another friend and he told me that someone had died by suicide. Yesterday, I learned that it was Sam. I am still in shock and cannot accept the fact. Sam was a fighter and not one to give up easily. Just 15 days ago, he was in Lonavala and told me that he wanted to get out.”
Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra expressed his condolences, saying,
Really sad and unfortunate. #RIPSameerSharma.”
TV actress Shweta Rohira tweeted,
May #SameerSharma’s soul rest in peace. Praying for the loved ones and hope they have the strength to cope with their loss. Unfortunately, suicide rates and depression are on the rise in our society, maybe we all need to take this issue seriously and not just think about it, but take action
Actor Varun Dhawan also shared a post on Sameer’s death.
