In 1996, he was offered roles in four Bollywood films “Namak Halal”, “Ujala”, “Rankshetra” and “Humrahi”, but these films were shelved. In 2002, he was invited to play the eponymous role of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in the film Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The film was shelved by the producers in 2002.
