After graduating in 2004, she started working at a magazine publishing company; however, she had a friend who knew Gotham Chopra (son of Deepak Chopra and owner of Virgin Comics), and with the help of her friend, she Got a job at Virgin Comics. She learned to tell stories with graphics while working at Virgin Comics; however, when the company folded two years later, she began looking for work in the comics industry again. In 2009, she was approached by a Marvel Comics executive who was so impressed with her work that she joined Marvel Comics as an executive in 2009. She also served as a story writer and renamed the Marvel character Ms. Marvel. 2014 as Kamala Khan. She based the character on her own life as a Muslim girl in America. The comic “Ms. Marvel Volume 1: Abnormal” became the best-selling graphic novel in October 2014 and won the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story in 2015. In February 2015, she became director of content and character development for Marvel Comics. She is the editor on Captain Marvel and Hawkeye. She became co-executive producer in 2018 and developed the animated TV movie Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors in 2018 and the unscripted documentary series Marvel Heroes Project in 2019. In 2019, she joined Marvel Studios as head of production and development, and in 2022, she began working on Ms. Marvel, a TV series based on the comic book series, directed by Iman Vellani ) stars as Ms. Marvel, also known as Kamala Khan.
