The Sandra Atlas Bass Ear, Nose, and Throat Center, a new state-of-the-art comprehensive treatment center with leading otolaryngologists and head and neck tumor specialists on the Long Island Jewish Medical Center campus, opened today, according to an announcement from Northwell Health. .
Sandra Atlas Bass, a dedicated supporter of Northwell Health for many years, donated a generous $12.15 million to build the Ear, Nose, and Throat Center, located at 444 Lakeville Road in New Hyde Park. The facility will provide adult laryngology, rhinology, skull base surgery, facial plastic surgery, general otolaryngology, adult speech-language pathology, and audiology exam, along with outpatient head and neck surgery.
Northwell Health President and CEO Michael Dowling said: “Northwell Health is forever grateful for the friendship and support of Sandra Atlas Bass. “A three-decade philanthropic relationship that has had a truly profound impact on them has benefited our communities. Thanks to dedicated donors like Ms. Bass, Northwell is able to provide superior healthcare. And we sincerely appreciate her help.
A noted philanthropist, Ms. Bass has changed the lives of thousands of patients through her exceptional generosity and commitment to Northwell. She contributes to this effort in support of Northwell Health’s Outpacing the Impossible campaign, which launched in 2018 with the ambitious goal of raising $1 billion to improve healthcare in the New York metropolitan area.
Because it will have a significant impact on our ability to interact and communicate, Ms. Bass noted that the new center is vital to the health and well-being of our communities. I appreciate being able to advance the study of head and neck problems and improve people’s lives.
Your latest donation helps Northwell’s premier ENT practice grow and modernize. The new clinical area has meeting rooms, testing facilities, 22 examination rooms and four treatment rooms.

Renowned experts in the fields of head and neck surgery, laryngology, sinus surgery, sleep medicine, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and general otorhinolaryngology work at the center.

Ms. Bass also supports a well-established initiative that provides hearing aids to children and adolescents in poor neighborhoods. It has been shown that communication skills, academic performance and social skills can be improved with life-changing hearing aids.
