In 2023, the Enforcement Directorate found that Sanjeev Jaiswal and his wife owned 24 properties worth Rs. The money laundering case related to the COVID-19 field hospital contract involves Rs 34 crore. The investigating agency also found that they had Rs. Fixed deposit of 150 million rupees. Investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED)
In 2023, Sanjeev Jaiswal was investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for his alleged involvement in the Covid-19 mega-hub scam. The incident took place in 2020 when he was serving as the additional municipal commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The ED found that BMC was selling medicines for Covid-19 patients at prices that were 25 to 30 per cent higher than normal market prices. They believe that Sanjeev Jaiswal, as a member of the tender committee, approved these inflated prices with knowledge and full awareness of serious irregularities. He could have chosen to object, but for undisclosed reasons chose not to.
ED raids Sanjeev Jaiswal’s home
In June 2023, the Education Department conducted a search warrant at the home of Sanjeev Jaiswal on suspicion of fraud. During the search, they found valuable property documents. During a raid at his Bandra residence, the ED seized Rs. 1.3 million in cash. Later, when asked about the seized documents, Sanjeev Jaiswal explained that fixed deposits and properties worth about Rs. 340 million, which was actually a gift to his wife from his retired father-in-law.
