She went to school in Haryana. Sara studied non-medical subjects during her school days. She scored excellent marks in the AIEEE examinations and wanted to pursue a degree in architecture. However, she was not admitted to her ideal college. She then joined the North India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) in Mohali to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion. During college, she was actively involved in theatre activities. Once, a photographer spotted her during a theatre rehearsal and offered her a modelling assignment (fashion shoot) Sara loved singing since her childhood. In 2012, Sara won the title of Miss Chandigarh. In the same year, she received a call to act in a Punjabi song.

Sara Guppal started her career with the Punjabi music video “Jean” in 2013. She then acted in many Punjabi songs like “7 Knaalan” (2015), “Gunday No. 1” (2014), “Bullet Vs Chammak Challo” (2014), “Jaan” (2014) and “Jaguar” (2015).
In 2017, she made her debut as ‘Bholi’ in the Punjabi film ‘Manje Bistre’.
