Sara Jane Comrie was identified on TikTok by @thatdaneshguy in a video that has over 2 million views. Sara’s employee released a statement on social media on May 14, 2023, which read:
“We recently learned of an incident that occurred off campus over the weekend that appears to have involved one of our employees. We are sorry this has happened and we are investigating the incident. NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is committed to providing the highest quality care to all New Yorkers with dignity, cultural sensitivity and compassion.”
Noted civil rights lawyer Ben Crump shared a video on Instagram in which he wrote:
“This is unacceptable! A white woman was caught on camera trying to steal a Citi bike from a young black man in New York City. She crudely tried to weaponize her tears to portray this man as a threat. This It is EXACTLY the kind of behavior that has endangered so many Black people in the past!”
The black man in the video has not yet been identified. It has not yet ruled on the incident. An NYPC spokesperson told the New York Post that,
“There are currently no 911 calls or reports of this incident. The NYPD encourages anyone who believes they have been the victim of a crime to come forward and report it to any police agency so that an investigation can begin, an NYPD spokesperson told the Post.
In the video Sarah can be seen screaming as the young black man tells her that this is not his bike,
“Help! Help me! Please help me!”
The woman keeps screaming
“Please help!” and help!”
she tells him,
“Get off me please”
A man also dressed as NYC Health+ hospitals approaches while talking on the phone. Sarah starts to cry.
Sarah calls for help while the person recording says:
“Don’t cry, I have you on video.”
Sarah begins to push herself on the bike while sobbing and says:
“Help me.”
In the video, the young man can be heard saying “This is on me.”
However, it is still unclear what happened after the video ended.
This lady tried her best to hold back tears like a weapon, but when she realized it wasn’t working, she turned it off and acted like nothing happened.
