Her grandfather, David Keith-Lucas, worked as an aerodynamicist in Kent during the Second World War, and her grandmother, Dorothy de Bauduy Robertson, was killed in a car accident in 1979.

Lucas first worked in the French Alps for two winter seasons. She eventually joined the Met Office and started working as a weather forecaster at the Exeter headquarters in 2007. She then joined the BBC as a broadcast assistant in 2008, making her first television appearance in the summer of 2009.
Lucas designed the weather for shops and airports while working at the Met Office in Exeter. In addition to his television career, he enjoys traveling, camping, boating and being in nature. She also co-hosts BBC World News’ Climate Check and Weather World with Nick Miller, and sometimes broadcasts weather documentaries on BBC News.
