After completing his law graduation, Satish Maneshinde came to Mumbai from his native Karnataka to become a lawyer. In 1983, he started working as a junior lawyer under the country’s late Ram Jethmalani, a renowned criminal lawyer. While working for Jethmalani, Mr. Maneshinde handled a number of high-profile criminal and civil cases over nearly a decade. Satish recalled his initial experience as a lawyer in Mumbai and said:

When I was a student, I heard and read about Ram Jethmalani. In 1983, I met him by chance in the Bombay High Court and mustered up the courage to ask him to accept me as his substitute. I was called into his office that evening and he agreed. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work with him 18 hours a day. “

High-profile cases

After working under Jethmalani for a decade, Satish handled his first high-profile criminal case in 1993, when he and his legal team represented Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in the Mumbai blasts. In both cases, lawyers were successful in getting Khan off the hook. In 2010, he represented model and actor Rakhi Sawant in a case of abetment to suicide. Maneshinde was also actress Rhea Chakraborty’s first choice in 2020 to represent her in Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s controversial abetment to suicide case. In the same year, he also served as the special prosecutor in the Palghar lynching case. In October 2021, Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, joined Maneshinde’s list of celebrity clients after he was arrested by the NCB in a Mumbai drugs case.
