Savannah Chrisley Says She Has ‘Nothing but Love and Respect’ for Late Ex Nic Kerdiles After PDA Pic Backlash

Savannah Chrisley means nothing to her late ex Nic Kerdiles when she shows off her new man Robert Shiver.

The Chrisley knows best star took some heat over the weekend after posting pictures of Shiver on her PDA on Saturday – nearly two months after her ex-fiancé’s death.

“I just wanted to jump in here and clear up some misconceptions. I posted those photos last night and obviously a ton of positive comments, but there’s also a lot of comments about Nico and me,” Chrisley, 26, said in a video posted to her Instagram Story. “I just want to say that Nic and I have been broken up for a long time. We got engaged, broke off, tried to date, tried to stay in each other’s lives, but it just didn’t work out. We loved each other more than anything in the world, but it just didn’t work out.”

Chrisley also detailed when exactly her friendship with Kerdiles ended after the split, explaining: “In January we finally stopped talking in general. So Nic and I weren’t together. We haven’t been together… maybe two years?”

Before Kerdiles’ untimely death, Chrisley said they were both seeing other people. “We both moved on. I was happy for him and that’s just part of life. Like I said, I have nothing but love and respect for Nic and his family.”

Kerdiles died in a motorcycle accident on September 23 at the age of 29. Although Chrisley has spoken publicly about the difficulties in their relationship, she paid tribute to him with an Instagram post after his death. “We’ve had some really great, bright moments and we’ve had some really hard times,” she wrote in part on Instagram, “but the part of our relationship that I’ll hold onto will always be the moments in the middle.”

Chrisley has now given fans a glimpse into her new relationship with Shiver. With an explanation on Instagram, she shared two photos of her and the former soccer player with a quote about the sequel. “You deserve to be happy. You deserve to live a life that lights you up. Don’t ever forget that,” she wrote alongside the photos, crediting the Coco Calla quote.

Earlier this week, Chrisley became Instagram official with Shiver when she posted a photo of them kissing. “Sometimes… it just works ❤️ #THTD,” she wrote.

Before PEOPLE broke the news in September that Savannah had started dating the former football player, Chrisley only shared a photo of the pair holding hands on her Instagram Story.

Shiver, 38, previously made headlines after his wife, Lindsay Shiver, allegedly planned his murder along with two co-conspirators. It is still unclear if Lindsay entered a guilty plea.
