Following the incident, the police launched an investigation into murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy against Sushil Kumar. On May 17, 2021, Delhi Police announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh information led to the arrest of fugitive Sushil Kumar. On May 22, 2021, Sushil and co-accused Ajay were arrested from Mundka area outside Delhi. Sushil reportedly asked his friend Prince to take a video of the incident in order to terrorize wrestling rings in the city.
