Delhi School Closure Update: Schools in Delhi bordering the Yamuna River have been ordered to close for all purposes due to the flood-like situation in the area. The Department of Education (DoE) has said that all private and public schools should end offline classes by July 18, 2023. The decision was made because the schools were being used as camps. relief for flood victims in the city. However, school authorities have been instructed to hold online classes for the time being. Yamuna’s water level was recorded as 205.98 meters on Sunday.

The circular states, “As flood relief camps are likely to continue in schools in the area bordering the Yamuna River, all schools (government and private) in the affected DoE Counties – East , Northeast, Northwest -A, North, Center and Southeast — will remain closed to students on July 17 and 18.”

Schools will reopen in the rest of Delhi

Schools in the remaining DoE districts: Northwest-B, West-A, West-B, South, Southwest-A, Southwest-B and New Delhi will remain open. Principals of schools in these districts have the flexibility to organize physical or hybrid classes (offline or online) to suit their students.

An official statement said: “Principals of schools in these seven districts are free to work in a physical or hybrid mode (offline or online) depending on their students. must notify parents in advance of their decision.”

They are obligated to inform their parents in advance of their decision. The DoE further announced that all schools in every county will resume normal operations from Wednesday.

Closing non-essential government offices

Due to rising water levels in Yamuna due to flooding, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority ordered the closure of all government offices, schools and non-essential colleges in the city earlier this week.
