Delhi Schools Reopen: Schools in Delhi will reopen today, November 20, 2023. Schools in the capital were closed for nearly 15 days due to rising AQI levels in the city. According to an announcement made by the government, schools are closed until November 18, 2023 due to the early winter holidays.
The air quality index on Saturday, November 18, 2023 showed an improvement entering the very poor category after being severe for the past few weeks. According to the notification issued, all government and private recognized schools in Delhi will resume classes from pre-primary to class 12 with effect from Monday, November 20, 2023. The notification, however, states that outdoor sports activities and morning assemblies will not be held next week .
The state government had earlier announced the closure of schools on November 3 and 4, 2023, which was then extended to November 10, 2023, as GRAP IV was implemented. Classes for 10th and 12th grade students took place online.
The government announced an early winter holiday from 9 to 18 November 2023 and the order to reopen classes was issued on 18 November 2023 as the AQI improved and the GRAP Subcommittee lifted the order that was in place in phase IV. from GRAP. As of now, GRAP has been revoked and the ban on trucks and ongoing construction activities has been lifted, but GRAP III is still in effect.
