Schools closed in UP: The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered authorities in Lucknow to close all schools today: September 12, 2023. All government, non-government, aided and private schools from pre-primary to class 12 remain closed due to the heavy rain it has forecast Indian Meteorological Service.

According to reports, the government also advised residents to stay indoors due to the risk of severe lightning and heavy rain. According to Met Dept light to moderate rain/thundershowers at few places with occasional intense spells over parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura.

School is closed due to heavy rain in various districts of UP

Earlier on Monday, Lucknow District Magistrate, Suryapal Gangwar, issued a formal notice to school principals and education officers to order the closure of all schools in the district on September 11, 2023. The decision comes in view of weather advisories from the meteorological department, forecasting heavy rainfall in the region.

Heavy rainfall in various parts of India

The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain/thundershowers over Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, North Interior Karnataka and of southern interior Maharashtra during the night. Residents are advised to stay indoors.
