Schools in Maharashtra Mumbai, Konkan Division closed
Mumbai, Konkan Campus Schools Closed: Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that all schools in Mumbai and Konkan subdivisions will remain closed today, 20 July 2023, due to heavy rains in the area. The Prime Minister announced that cities in the state and local governments have been instructed to make decisions about school leave depending on the situation.
BMC has announced a holiday for primary, middle and high schools until 12th grade in Mumbai today, 20 July 2023. Additional SSC and HSC exams for that date have also been postponed to next month.
SSC, HSC, postponing university exams
SSC exams including Physical Education, Electronic Technology and Mechanical Technology will now be held on August 2, 2023, while the HSC Language exam scheduled for today will be held on August 2, 2023. August 11, 2023.
The University of Mumbai has also postponed exams to be held on Wednesday for students in Raigad. Exams will now be held on 22 July 2023. The University has postponed the Open and Distance Learning Institute exams to be held today.
The local government has taken a number of measures to combat the flooding problem of the city and surrounding areas. During a visit to the BMC’s disaster control room, the minister said that 110 places in the city did not have floods. He added that locations such as Hindmata and the Milan metro had not been flooded thanks to the measures taken by the BMC, including the installation of nearly 450 pumps.
Residents are advised not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary and tourists are also advised not to visit the beaches. He added that Raidag, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts had heavy rain.
