SunSport understands that Moyes has been in talks with the club where he spent 11 seasons before leaving to take over Manchester United in 2013.
Billionaire majority owner Dan Friedkin left Dyche, 53, after what is believed to be an angry row with the club’s hierarchy yesterday afternoon.
And Everton confirmed: “Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as manager with immediate effect. Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer also left the club. The process of appointing a new manager is underway.”
Dyche’s shock axing followed his demands for cash to spend in this month’s transfer window to bolster a team that sits just one point above the relegation zone.
He faces a fight for compensation and his contract — which was due to expire at the end of the season — has now been terminated.
Under 18s head coach Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman took charge of last night’s FA Cup tie.
But Toffees chiefs want a new boss ahead of Prem’s clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho started the day as the bookies’ choice.

But TFG has no interest in the search for the current Fenerbahce boss.
TFG were interested in Graham Potter before he was confirmed as West Ham’s new manager yesterday, while Middlesbrough’s Michael Carrick and England Under-21 coach and former Toffees midfielder Lee Carsley are also on their shortlist.

But Moyes, who called Everton “the people’s club” during his tenure, is the favorite to get the nod and is ready to return.
He has been without a job since he left Čekićari in May.
But only last month the Scot, 61, insisted: “I don’t want to take jobs where I have to constantly reject and be at the bottom of the league.
“Most of the time I was at Everton, we were competing for European positions. Of the last four years at West Ham, three were in Europe.
“They can do the job at a level, not just avoid relegation. I will wait for the right opportunity.”
Everton have picked up just 17 points in 19 games with Prema this season and have ONE goal in their last five league games.
Dyche’s last game was Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
Speaking on Tuesday, Dyche knew his job was on the line and claimed he had no problem with the Toffees boss’ “succession planning”.
He said: “It should be in every football club. It’s definitely part of the job.”
Dyche’s ups and downs at Everton
SEAN DYCHE was appointed in January 2023 after the disastrous reign of Frank Lampard.
Things couldn’t have started better for the former Burnley boss, with a win over Arsenal in his first game in charge.
In that first season, the Toffees’ battle against relegation ended on the last day of the season, with Dyche leading a 1-0 win over Bournemouth to retain their place in the top flight.
Season 2023/2024. started positively, but then Everton were hit with a 10-point deduction, which was later reduced to six points.
Despite being hampered by a penalty, Dyche led Everton to 15th position.
The highlight of the season was a 2-0 win over local rivals Liverpool – their first Merseyside derby win at Goodison in 14 years.
But despite signs of improvement last term, the Toffees have found themselves back in the doldrums this season, with Dyche leaving the team just one point clear of the relegation zone.
Disrupting the club’s protracted takeover couldn’t have helped, but after The Friedkin Group finally sealed a deal in December, they decided to change managers just weeks later.
