Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong are finally premiering their new movie about Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, October 8, Stan, 42, and Strong, 45, joined actress Marija Bakalova and director Ali Abbasi at the film’s New York premiere Traineein which Stan portrays a young Trump in the 1980s. Strong portrays lawyer Roy Cohn, while 28-year-old Bakalova plays Trump’s first wife, Ivana Trump.
Stan looked dapper in a black striped suit, while Strong chose a stylish pink blazer and black formal trousers.
While speaking to reporters on the red carpet, Stan said the timing of the film was “coincidental.”

Sebastian Stan says people told him it was ‘not safe’ to play Donald Trump, which he found ‘weirdly motivating’
“I mean, you know, like we’re here on the red carpet and all the hoopla, but kidding aside, it feels like the highest-stakes moment in the history of this country,” Strong adds.
“We happened to be, we happened to be part of a movie about Donald Trump’s apprenticeship with Roy Cohn, which in real life kind of led to unfathomable armaments and destruction,” he says, before adding, “I think this movie has something going for it. say” about the future.
“I think it’s important that people in this country see that and then make their own decision about what kind of people they are.”
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Strong says he and Stan met after filming the movie.

“We met after we made the movie, actually,” he says. “We didn’t really meet. We met as Donald and Roy.”

According to the official synopsis, “young Donald Trump, eager to make a name for himself as the hungry second son of a wealthy New York family in the 1970s, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn, the bloodthirsty lawyer who would help create the Donald Trump we know today.”
“Cohn sees Trump as the perfect protégé — someone with raw ambition, a drive to succeed and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win,” it continued.
TraineeThe film’s title reflects that of the reality show Trump starred in for NBC, which ran for 15 seasons from 2004 to 2017. After its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the film garnered significant attention for its fiery portrayal of the younger Trump in his 70s. is in the middle of the former president’s 2024 re-election campaign, including one scene in which Stan’s character Trump rapes then-wife Ivana, who died in 2022.
