Second Royal Family member ‘named as racist’ in Dutch translation of Scobie’s Endgame as thousands of copies are pulped

ANOTHER member of the royal family has been named in Omid Scobie’s translation of The Endgame implying they are racist.

In the English version, Scobie says that British law does not give him names.

But the passage in the Dutch translated version lacks the legal pronunciation and names a royal person instead.

It can now be revealed that another person is named elsewhere in the book – which is now being frantically pulled from the shelves.

It comes after Scobie denied responsibility for the Dutch translation of his new book “accidentally naming” a member of the royal family.

Publishers Xander Uitgevers said yesterday that they were asking for Scobie’s work to be removed from bookshelves, saying there had been a “mistake”.

Today they said: “Corrected edition Eindstrijd Omid Scobie will be in bookstores on Friday, December 8.

“Xander Uitgevers has temporarily removed the book from sale, due to an error that occurred in the Dutch edition.”

Speaking to Dutch TV last night, Scobie defended his book, saying: “The book is in several languages and unfortunately I don’t speak Dutch.

“But if there are translation errors, I’m sure the publishers will be in control.

“I wrote and edited the English version. There’s never been a single version I’ve produced that has a name on it.”

It is unclear how the gaffe occurred.

Despite claims that the book is being pulled from the shelves, The Sun found it on sale at 5pm yesterday in Amsterdam.

Scobie said last night that there was “never” a version of Endgame that “has names in it”.

The Sussexes fueled the race in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey by claiming that an unnamed member of the royal family asked about son Archie’s skin colour.

Last Saturday, The Sun revealed how Endgame said Meghan had named two people behind the comments in letters to King Charles.

In the English version, published yesterday, Mr Scobie writes: “Two identities are revealed in the pages of these private letters. UK law prevents me from reporting who they are.”

But the Dutch version reads: “In these private letters, the identity was revealed and confirmed” – before going on to name a senior member of the royal family.

Dutch royal reporter Rick Evers says he was one of only two journalists who received the manuscript of The End last Wednesday.

Rick said: “I was shocked that no one else in the world mentioned the fact that a member of the royal family was called a racist in the book.

“That was the main accusation in the book that I noticed and that I presented in my (review) article that was published with the photo of that royal.

“I began to wonder if only my handwriting had a name in it. I went to get the book from the store and it was exactly the same.

“A woman from the publisher called and said there was a legal problem and my article had to be removed.”

The journalist then told GMB this morning that another member of the royal family was named in the book.

Last night, Buckingham Palace refused to say whether they had taken any action.

Xander Uitgevers did not return calls for comment.

Scobie was attacked by The Sun columnist and TV presenter Piers Morgan over the book and his relationship with Meghan and Harry. Morgan described him as “a sleazebag who makes money selling junk”.
