'Several Members' of U.S. Figure Skating Team Onboard American Airlines Plane That Crashed Over Washington, D.C.

Several members of the American Skating Team were among the 60 passengers who traveled with an American aircraft colliding with Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, January 29.

The Russian World Champion in the Skating of Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were also allegedly on the flight.

Flight 5342 American Airlines left Wichita, Kansas, before collapsing into a military aircraft across the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington Airport around 9 pm, FAA states in an initial statement to people.

American skating confirmed that their community members were on board the aircraft in a statement for people.

Ludmila Velika, who trained Shishkove and Naumov when they were children, told Reuters that a group of 14 skates and coaches was allegedly on the plane at the time of the collision. She added that Shishkova and Naum’s son Maxim, for 23 years, were not on the same aircraft despite the previous reports.
