Shahzada Dawood (1975-2023) was a British-Pakistani billionaire businessman, investor and philanthropist. He has served as Vice Chairman of Engro, a Director of Dawood Hercules, a Board Member of the Prince Charles Charities, a Board Member of the SETI Institute and a Trustee of the Dawood Foundation. He made headlines during the 2023 Titan submersible incident, a tourist expedition in which the Titan submersible carried five passengers, including Shahzada and his son Surman, on a trip to view the wreckage of the Titanic Lost in the North Atlantic en route. June 18, 2023. All five passengers were confirmed dead after a debris field was discovered on the Atlantic Ocean floor on June 22, 2023.

On June 18, 2023, the Titan submersible operated by OceanGate Expeditions disappeared in the North Atlantic off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
The submersible was carrying five people: Shahzada Daoud, his 19-year-old son Surman, Hamish Harding, Paul Henry Nagiolet and Stockton Rush. Titan had planned to give passengers a close-up view of the wreckage of the Titanic, but lost contact with the ship less than two hours into the voyage. On April 15, 1912, the famous British passenger liner Titanic sank in the North Atlantic after colliding with an iceberg. Passengers paid $250,000 for the trip, which was supposed to venture into the ocean at a depth of nearly 13,123 feet. The aircraft’s breathable air supply is expected to be exhausted on the morning of June 22, 2023. On the same day, it was confirmed that the passengers of the Titanic were dead after a debris field was discovered on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean hundreds of meters away from the wreckage. OceanGate believes the passengers died in a “catastrophic implosion” and issued a statement shortly after the discovery of the wreckage, which read:
