In 1985, Shakuni Chaudhry won a seat in the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Tarapur constituency as an independent candidate. In 1995, Shakuni Choudhary was one of the prime accused in the Rauna-Parsa massacre case, which took place during the 1995 Bihar assembly elections in which Congress candidate Sa Sachchidanand Singh and six others were killed in the grenade attack. Singh was rushed to a hospital in Tarapur where he was assassinated and a minor incident later killed nine people. Chowdhury was charged along with thirty-three others in the massacre.
