Shawn Johnson Gets Tattoos of All Three of Her Kids’ Names Two Months After Welcoming Son Bear — See the Ink!

Shawn Johnson East paid a lasting tribute to her three children over the weekend.

On Monday, the Olympic gymnast, 32, shared a series of videos on her Instagram Story as she showed off the recent tattoos she got in honor of her children. Along with a honey bee and the letter “A” for husband Andrew East, Johnson East also inscribed her children’s names.

On one of her outer arms, Johnson East has tattooed “Drew Hazel” in honor of her four-year-old daughter. On her other outer arm, she had “Jett James” drawn on a typewriter for her 2-year-old son. Finally, she got “Bear Madison” printed on the back of her hand in honor of her latest addition, son Bear.

The couple welcomed their third child, son Barrett ‘Bear’ Madison, in December. In their FamilyMade newsletter, the couple talked about how they chose the unique nickname.

“During the birth, we didn’t know if we were going to have a girl or a boy, so we had a name for each one that we liked!” Johnson East noted.

“We are so happy to be able to use the name Barrett Madison for our son and we love to call him ‘Bear’. We knew that if we had a boy we wanted to honor Andrew’s dad who passed away last year and was named Guy Madison East. Andrew’s grandfather’s name was also Madison and later it was passed on to his father, which made the family a really special name.”

The new mother of three said the couple first decided on a middle name and then “fell in love with Barrett”.

“We’ve loved the nickname ‘Bear’ for a long time and thought about using that name for Jett, but decided to keep it. Ever since then, we’ve always wanted a baby named Bear, and after seeing our sweet son for the first time, we knew this the name fits perfectly.”

In an Instagram Story in January, the proud mom shared how she’s been adjusting to life with three kids.

“The most amazing thing about this special little window of time with a newborn is being able to hold him, cuddle him, nurse him and be with him 24/7,” she wrote. “It’s a time like no other that you’ll never get back.”

“BUT. The hardest part of this short phase is missing my big kids,” she continued to admit. “Dad does the best job in the world showering them with attention and adventures, but this mom misses her big babies.”
