Shay Mitchell Shares Wedding Fashion Advice: ‘Slippers Are a Must’

On Wednesday, Sweet little liars alum has revealed how she manages to feel comfortable when attending wedding receptions – while still looking chic.

“Wedding tip: slippers are a must,” Mitchell, 36, wrote on an Instagram carousel showing highlights from the wedding she attended near Rome, Italy.

In addition to sharing her tailoring tips with her followers, the actress also congratulated the newlyweds on their union and jokingly thanked them “for giving me a place to wear this dress. jk”

“I love you both,” she finished her message to the newlyweds.

For the wedding, Mitchell wore a fitted red bandeau dress with red feathers from The New Arrivals by İlkyaz Özel label. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek bun and she kept her accessories simple with a pair of diamond earrings. However, in the first photo it is in the carousel Your the actress swapped her heels for a pair of white slippers, in a shot of her walking up the stairs.

Other pictures from the carousel showed her complete outfit for her friends’ special day, which included a pair of sleek black heels with clear straps. Along with a photo of the chairs lined up for the wedding ceremony, a picture of Mitchell dancing with the bride, and an adorable picture of the newlyweds dancing outside, the actress also included a few shots of her outfit from different angles.

And she wasn’t the only one who stepped into their shoes during the wedding. One image in Mitchell’s carousel showed a bird’s-eye view of four pairs of feet, all decked out in white slippers monogrammed with the letters “N” and “S.”

In the comments section of the post, fellow actress Nina Dobrev shared her support for Mitchell’s style choices, writing, “I support slipper lyfe 4 lyfe.”

But Mitchell’s savvy fashion choices aren’t just about swapping heels for comfortable footwear. In 2022, she launched the luggage brand Béis with Swedish model Elsa Hosk and talked about why she created the versatile products.

“The inspiration for this collection was [a] a bag that is not for babies. Anything you could use when your baby grows up,” Hosk in an interview with the brand’s blog at the time. “For example, you can still use a purse, you can still use a clutch when your kids are older. You can pass them on throughout your life.”

Mitchell has two daughters – three-year-old Atlas Noa and 16-month-old Rome – with long-term partner Matt Babel. At the Béis event last fall, A doll’s face star told PEOPLE she is happy with her duo.

“I think two is good for now,” she said with a laugh. “All my friends who have it, I always say, ‘Just enjoy this. Enjoy that! Take it.'”

Speaking about the products designed with mothers in mind, she added: “For Béis, it was the perfect partnership of fashion and function. That’s always something I strive for with Béis: to have things that don’t look like a typical suitcase, or in this case, a typical diaper bag. I really wanted her input and I thought we worked well together.”

Mitchell often shares elements of her motherly life on social media, including a sweet video of her dancing with Atlas to Beyoncé’s “CUFF IT” last month in “VAN city.”
