She is best known as the legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Meena Khadikar, Usha Mangeshkar (Usha Mangeshkar) and mother of music composer Hridaynath Mangeshkar.

Shevanti Mangeshkar was born into a wealthy business family in Gujarat. Her father, Seth Haridas Ramdas Lad, was a businessman in Talna, Maharashtra. Deenanath Mangeshkar was only 21 years old when he married Shevanti in 1927. The wedding was held privately at their home. Chewanti’s mother did not attend their wedding. Soon after her marriage, Shevanti was named “Sudhamati” by Deenanath Mangeshkar. She was the second wife of Dinanath Mangeshkar. Shewanti’s sister Narmada, Dinanath’s first wife, died soon after her infant daughter Latika. Dinanas died fifteen years after marrying Shewandi Mangeshkar. Later, Lata Mangeshkar took on the responsibility of the entire family and entered the Indian entertainment industry.
