Her body was found in a bed box in her beauty salon on Sunday, June 28, 2020. One of her neighbours, Arif, reportedly brutally murdered her on Friday, June 26, 2020, and kept her virtually alive by posting a video on her TikTok account.
Shivani’s elder sister Sweta said,
On June 26, Arif came to visit Shivani. When she did not return home that evening, I frantically called and messaged her to tell her that our mother was ill. I received a message on her phone saying that she was fine, in Haridwar, and would be back on Tuesday.
Shivani’s neighbours complained about a bad smell in the living room. One of her friends, Neeraj, came to the living room to check the cause of the bad smell. He was the first person to find Shivani’s body in the bed box. According to Shivani’s father, Arif was a psychopathic lover who had been stalking her for the past three years. Shivani’s father said,
“We have called the police, police action has been taken and he even apologised. But he never left my daughter and retaliated.”
Later, Arif confessed that he murdered her because he used to like her and she stopped talking to him for the past 15 days, which upset him and he went to her salon where the whole incident took place. Sonipat Kundali local police charged Arif with destroying evidence and violating the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Inspector Virender Singh, who is investigating the case, said:
The accused, Aref, has confessed to the murder. Not only did he murder the woman, but he also spoke to her family members on the night of the murder. Aref will appear in court after undergoing a COVID-19 test. The accused strangled the woman with a headscarf and stuffed her body into Neeraj’s bed. The murder came to light after Neeraj noticed a foul odor emanating from the salon. He then found Shivani’s body from the box. “
