WAYNE Lineker was knocked unconscious by a thug who punched him as he tried to protect a friend on a night out.

Shocking footage shows Wayne, 62, holding his arm up to try to defend himself as a man rushes towards him and punches him outside the Eden bar.
Wayne then fell to the ground and onlookers said he was out in the cold for at least six minutes – and blood was pouring from his mouth.
A large group of at least 10 people, including Wayne, can be seen on video shouting over each other on Wednesday.
A shocked witness told The Sun that the two men began arguing after the robber and his friends began harassing Wayne’s friend, who is in her 20s.

As Wayne tried to leave in a taxi, the man – with a group of six friends – approached him and slammed the door.
Moments later, he punched Wayne and ran away.

Welsh student horrified witness
The attacker and his friends quickly fled the scene as Wayne was surrounded by worried onlookers.
He was knocked out at 4.04am – before returning around six minutes later at 4.10am.
An 18-year-old Welsh student who witnessed the punch said: “It was horrible – he looked like he could have been dead at one point.
“Wayne just fell to the floor and the man and his friends ran away. He was completely unconscious.
“He didn’t say much when he finally came back.
“I stayed to help him and the police showed up, but they weren’t there long and they didn’t do much and they quickly left.”
Wayne ended up leaving in a taxi about an hour after the impact.
On Tuesday, Wayne posted a video on his Instagram of himself clinking wine glasses with a female friend in the middle of the line.
He captioned it: “Bunny is back.”
He also shared a post wishing his son Freddie a happy birthday – along with a number of other Instagram stories.
Party-loving Wayne is known for hosting celebrities including football ace Jack Grealish at his beach club.
He has a strained relationship with former England striker and Match of the Day presenter Gary (63).
Speaking about their relationship earlier this year, he said: “It’s not that good to be honest, we don’t talk very often. I’ll always be his number one fan.”
He is the black sheep of the Lineker family and has virtually no relationship with Gary.
He has an empire of nightclubs in Spain that he started in 1988.
As well as O Beach in Ibiza, he also has Lineker’s Bar across the Costa Del Sol and Majorca.
