THIS is the shocking moment a man covered in blood plunged headfirst into the North Pool at New York’s 9/11 memorial in front of horrified onlookers.
The 33-year-old was filmed throwing himself into one of the two-tiered pools before sliding into a 20ft “central void”.

The eerie footage posted on Xu, formerly known as Twitter, shows a man walking slowly towards an open space in the center of a reflecting pool.
When he reached the edge, he lay on his stomach in the 18-inch deep water of the pool’s center pool and hung his arms over the edge.
The man can then be seen peering into the open black hole as he uses his legs to push his body further through the water to the edge.
The jumper had already suffered an injury after plunging 30ft into the monument’s basin as footage showed a oozing gash on his head.
Horrified onlookers watched as his torso slid across the pool before falling headfirst into the lower part of the monument, leaving behind a pool of bloody water.
Witnesses were stunned as the man fell an incredible 20 feet into the central pool.
NYPD responded to the World Trade Center site in lower Manhattan around 1:30 p.m. after a Port Authority police officer spotted a man jumping into the memorial pool.
The fire department quickly rushed to save the man from falling into the central riser, who miraculously survived.
He reportedly told one of the officers that he “did this for my dad” before being taken to Bellevue Hospital, complaining of “back pain” and suffering from an injured leg.
According to reports, an unnamed man who is currently facing criminal charges has been taken into custody.
It was not immediately explained why the man decided to jump into the 9/11 memorial pool.
A pair of reflecting pools at the memorial site mark the former bases of the twin towers before they were destroyed during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The pools are also a tribute to those who lost their lives during the attack.
Both memorial pools feature a 30-foot waterfall, with water pouring into a one-acre pool that flows into a smaller opening in the middle that drops another 20 feet.
According to reports, this is not the first attempt to jump into memorial pools.
The would-be jumper was reportedly lowered from the platform at South Pool last month.
Another person plunged into the North Pool last year, although details of that incident were not immediately available.
Police have previously expressed concern over the issue of citizens deliberately throwing themselves into memorial pools.
Former police commissioner Raymond Kelly said they had to consider the “possibility” of someone trying to take their own life in the pool.
Grieving experts also reportedly argued that the memorial could cause a “negative psychological reaction,” especially from those directly connected to the crimes of 9/11.
