The Kennedy Center replied on February 8, saying that “they did not receive official communication from the White House.”
“According to the management of the center founded by the Congress in 1958, the chairman of the Board of Directors are appointed by members of the Center Committee,” the statement continued. “There is nothing in the center statute that would prevent the new administration from replacing the members of the Committee. However, this would be the first time that such an action was taken with the Kennedy Center Committee.”
