Sikkim Cloudburst School News Today
Cloudburst in Sikkim: According to media reports, flooding has been triggered in Sikkim due to a cloudburst causing massive destruction. To ensure the safety of students, the government has ordered the closure of schools in Sikkim till 8 October 2023. Parents and students may contact school authorities for further information.
“In view of the unprecedented emergency caused by the Teesta river floods, all government schools and private schools located in Pakyong, Gangtok, Namchi and Mangan districts will remain closed till October 8, 2023,” a circular from the Sikkim education department said.
Today there was a cloudburst in the country followed by a flood. The natural disaster destroyed property and put people’s lives at risk. A total of 3 dead bodies were found, and 23 jawans were missing. Also, the Singhtam footbridge over the Teesta river collapsed due to the overflowing river. This caused damage to military installations along the Lachen Valley.
Cloudburst in Sikkim: Schools closed till October 8 for safety of students
The Education Department, Government of Sikkim has issued a notification stating that all government and private schools will remain closed till October 8, 2023. The order was issued after the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) issued a flood alert in Sikkim.
Schools in Kerala closed due to continuous rain
Meanwhile, schools will remain closed today, October 4, 2023, due to incessant rainfall in several parts of the state. According to latest updates, all educational institutions in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed today due to heavy rain causing flood-like conditions in the region.
The state has been witnessing heavy rainfall for the last few days and yellow alert has also been issued in several districts.
