Simone Biles Gets 'the Best Surprise' During Gymnastics Tour — a Visit from Husband Jonathan Owens!

Simone Biles got a special visitor on her Gold Over America tour this weekend — and he’s already learning some new routines!

On Saturday, Sept. 28, the 27-year-old Olympian revealed on her Instagram Stories that her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, visited her as she took her talents across the country during her ongoing gymnastics competition-meets-concert experience.

Before her performance at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Saturday, Biles shared a video of herself and Owens, 29, holding hands. She then confirmed her husband’s surprise appearance when she shared another picture of the Chicago Bears player holding a massive string of 26 roses, in the shape of a heart, while he smiles at her.

“THE BEST SURPRISE,” she captioned the picture. “ilysmf.”

In the footage that follows, Owens could be seen standing on some gymnastics mats alongside several other Olympians participating in the national tour, while appearing to perform choreography in front of his wife.

“Learning tour dances,” Biles captioned the clip.

The 30-city Gold Over America tour also features acts such as Jordan Chiles, Jada Carey, Hezly Rivera, Fred Richard, Paul Jude and Brody Malone, and officially kicked off on September 16 in Oceanside, California.

After appearing in Milwaukee on Saturday, September 28th, the event will next be held in Chicago – home of Owens’ NFL team – on Sunday, September 29th.

Owens’ Bears also play on Sunday, Sept. 29, during a home game against the Los Angeles Rams, marking a big day in Chicago for the athletic pair.

Earlier this month, Biles told PEOPLE that she is “most excited for fans to see the best of both worlds” on the tour, given that it includes “men’s and women’s gymnastics in the same arena, at the exact same time, sharing the same floor. ”

The 11-time Olympic medalist also showed support for her husband during his final NFL season. On September 8, she shared her candid reaction to Owens’ first touchdown since joining the Chicago Bears, which happened during his team’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

“I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) at the time, responding to a message from NBC’s Sunday Night Football, which asked her how she was “feeling” about the big game.

Owens also supported his wife during her Olympic trip to Paris over the summer, taking several days off during pre-season training to watch her compete. As he told PEOPLE in July, it’s “super exciting” for him to see Biles perform at the highest level.

“It’s super exciting just because I get to see all the work she put in before that, and you know what? Everything he goes through and dealing with the media and everything, he still goes out there and does it,” he said.

“It’s just impressive and it speaks to her coaching mindset and consistency,” Owens added. “The biggest thing is how consistent she is.”
