Simone Biles takes care of herself.
The Olympic gymnast, 27, appeared with a protective boot on her left foot in an interview with NBC on Monday, August 5, after falling during warm-ups for her women’s floor exercise final.
Biles told NBC’s Mike Tirico that she had “a little pain” in her calf and that the boot was a “precaution,” per Today.
“The calf is fine. It’s just a precaution, just to be sure, because we still have the tour after this to recover and all that stuff,” Biles said. “So it just hurts a little.”
“I feel like elite athletes are pretty tough, so we’re just, through pain or pleasure, ready for anything,” she continued.

Tirico then showed Biles a video of her fall during the warm-up for the final on the Olympic floor, where she won the silver medal – her 11th Olympic medal overall.
“So for the most part, what you’re seeing here is I was just trying to over-rotate for good measure, and I did just that and almost knocked (coach) (Cecile Landi) out. But it was good,” said Biles, per Today.

Biles struggled with her leg during the Games after suffering a warm-up injury weeks before arriving in Paris, her coach Cecile Landi announced, according to Olympics.com.
She was seen earlier in the games with her left leg “heavily taped” and walked around with a “noticeable limp” between events in the women’s qualifier on July 28, according to the Associated Press.

“She’s been good. It’s day eight. She’s a little tired, and emotionally and physically it’s been a long week,” Landi told reporters, including PEOPLE, after Biles’ floor final.
“She was making mistakes on the floor, but I mean, if you make a mistake, you’re still a silver medalist. She’s pretty cool. Her calves just flared up a little during the warm-up. We warmed up and waited in the hallway for a while, so I think she was a little cold and when she hit the first time, there was a little pain, but afterwards she felt good.”
