Simran Sheikh was born in Azad Nagar, Dharavi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. According to one source, she was born on Saturday, January 12, 2002 (age 21; as of 2023), while according to another source, she was born on Sunday, December 1, 2002 (age 20; as of 2022). According to the first source, her zodiac sign is Sagittarius and according to the second source, her zodiac sign is Capricorn. She developed an interest in cricket while growing up and played local cricket with the boys. When she was 13 years old, she started participating in tennis tournaments and won many trophies. At the age of 15, she started training at Rumde Cricket Academy in Cross Maidan under the guidance of coach Ajay Yadav and joined Manchester United FC to train under the guidance of Sanjay Gaitonde. She then attended a training camp at Shivaji Park and was selected for the Mumbai U-19 team.

She scored 34 runs off 17 balls in the 2021-22 Senior Women’s T20 Championship against Sikkim. In a match of the 2022-23 Senior Women’s Inter-District T20 Championship, she represented the West Zone team against the North-East Zone team and scored 30 points on 24 goals. In the 2022-23 Presidents Cup Women’s T20 League, she played for Mumbai Thunder and scored 74 points from 54 balls against Mumbai Warriors. She represented the India C team in the 2022-23 Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy. Against Rajasthan, she scored 97 runs off 86 balls. She was acquired by the UP Warriors team at a base price of Rs 10 lakh during the 2023 Women’s Premier League (WPL) inaugural season auction.

- Her coach Ajay Yadav affectionately calls her “Rocket” because she is a very agile outfielder at point guard and cover. He never charged her a fee and allowed her to hone her skills at the net and on the ground under his tutelage.
