Singer Khalid Confirms He’s Gay After Being Outed: ‘I Was Never Hiding’

Khalid is open about his sexuality.

The “Talk” singer, 26, revealed that he is gay in a series of tweets on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, November 22.

First he posted a rainbow Emoji with a bunch of exclamation points and wrote, “here it is. next thread please lol.”

In a follow-up tweet, he confirmed his sexuality by replying to a fan who wrote: “Wait I hope Mr. Khalid isn’t GEHHH!”

“I did!” Khalid wrote in response. – And that’s okay.

In a third tweet, the “Favorite Song” singer said he’s “not ashamed” of his sexuality after saying he was out.

“I got away with it [sic] and the world still turns,” Khalid wrote. “Let’s clear this up (lmao) I’m not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it’s nobody’s business! But I’m fine with myself 🖤 I love you.”

PEOPLE has reached out to Khalid’s rep for comment.

In additional tweets, Khalid clarified that he has never “hid” his sexuality.

One social media user wrote: “The closet was a glass baby. but we accept you. It’s not about who you like, it’s about your skill!”

Khalid replied, “I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just none of your business.”

The Grammy-nominated singer echoed a similar sentiment when one fan said he released an “LGBTQ anthem” with his 2022 song “Satellite,” noting that Khalid “didn’t ‘hide’ his sexuality.”

“Thanks!!!!” Khalid wrote and added: “I have never been in hiding.”

In August, Khalid released his third studio album, Sincerely. It debuted in the top 10 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart in its first week.
