Janelle Brown has some advice for her younger self.
Answering a fan question on Friday in Part 1 Sister wives answer special, the 54-year-old said: “There were a lot of things I didn’t aspire to, like being able to get an education and even setting boundaries in my relationships with my sisters. I was always afraid to rock the boat. I think I would just tell myself to be brave and have those tough conversations.”
Janelle “spiritually” married Kody Brown in 1993, joining his polygamous marriage to Meri Brown. Janelle spent 29 years with Kody and had six children with him before their split in December 2022.

Janelle’s decision to split from Kody, 54, came after her sister’s wife Christine Brown’s departure from polygamy. In the year since, the two women have remained close friends even as Kody struggled to accept the dissolution of his polygamous family union.
Last month, the father-of-18 said he felt “angry” and “betrayed” that Janelle, 54, seemingly chose Christine, 51, over him when they split.
On Sister wives: one on onehe told host Sukanya Krishnan, “I’m supposed to be the head of the family, and here I’m completely undermined.”
He continued: “It’s just that you’re in a difficult situation and you’re questioning yourself: Do I put more effort into this or not? And I think that Janelle and I both — this is not an accusation — Janelle and I both saw so little value in the relationship that we didn’t take those steps to get it back together.”
He even said that “Janelle sees more value in a relationship with Christine than a relationship with me.”

In the episode, Janelle admitted that she felt “relieved” after the fight with Kody last year that led to their fight.
Despite being “quite emotional for a few minutes” after the fight “because [of] the emotional shock of it,” she felt like “a huge burden had been lifted.”
“I didn’t have to bother with this relationship with Kody anymore,” she said.

In a later episode One on one, however, Janelle reported how she feels looking back on her failed marriage.
– I don’t predict that we will ever reconcile, no – she told the host. “It would be some kind of magical fairy tale where we all transform into some other people, and that doesn’t happen in real life.”
However, she saw how now exes become friends in one moment. “Yes! I still hold him in high esteem. I remember all the good times, but I don’t want to reconcile.”
Reflecting on how “happy” Kody currently is with fourth wife Robyn Brown, Janelle said it’s “OK” that they’re moving on, adding, “Maybe one day I’d like to find the same thing. But not right now.”

Tensions were high between Kody and Christine, as Christine brought her new husband, David Woolley, with her on the episode, telling her ex, “Stop being mad, and then we’ll all be able to get along again when you let it go and stop make angry.”
Kody, meanwhile, recalled an “awkward life” with Christina, who he’s been with for 25 years, during their time in Las Vegas. “But what bothers me is her mood towards me, her laughing [and] she makes a mockery of my suffering,” he said, before calling her “a woman I didn’t love”.
“It’s the truth and she knows it,” he said. “As hard as I worked at it and dug into it … every piety I could have, it still prevailed for us. It never really worked.”
