Sister Wives’ Meri Broke Down in Tears Confronting ‘Scary’ Life Changes and Increasing Independence

Meri Brown still has reservations about her decision to spend more time away from ex Kody Brown.

In Sunday’s episode Sister wivesThe 52-year-old TLC star opened up to Robyn Brown about her decision to spend more of her time at her Utah bed and breakfast, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn.

“It’s easier for me to be in a B&B and that scares me because I go where it’s easy,” she said in the confessional. “I think that’s what Kody did for years, he just went where it was easy, and now look at our relationship. You know what I mean? Like, what is this going to lead to?”

Meri then admitted to Robyn, 44, that she was struggling to cope with all the changes in her life amid the ongoing family breakdown. (At the time of filming, Mera’s divorce from Kody after 32 years of marriage had not been officially announced.)

“I just don’t like change and it’s terrible,” Meri admitted as she burst into tears. “And it’s just another one on top of everything else that’s going on in the family. It seems like one more thing to me, but I also know that you’re the only one who cares about it.”

Robyn replied, “Me. I mean, as long as you’re actually still going to be here.”

“I will have a house. I’ll have the address. I’ll be here,” Meri reassured her. “I will sleep there. And I will be up there too.”

But Robyn remains concerned that Meri will move away from her family entirely, sharing in the confessional: “She’s just going to keep putting more pieces of herself … that will eventually lead her to the end.”

Meri admitted that the change in her life was scary because she was worried about how Robyn and Koyd would react. “It’s scary to me because I know I was afraid of what you would think it was, and I know what Kody [is going to think]. He just won’t care,” she said.

Robyn knew Meri was “not just sitting around mourning Kody” with her decision to spend time away, adding, “It’s about her integrity and about her commitments, and she’s a very committed and loyal person when it comes to commitments.”

After the conversation, Robyn realized it was time to let Meri stand on her own two feet.

“I don’t know what the future holds for her,” Robyn told the cameras. “I’m just thankful that she’s holding on and I want her to continue, but I feel selfish because this whole experience of being here and waiting to see if something happens between her and Kody must be hard. I just want her to be happy.”

Meri also admitted that she wanted her relationship with Kody to “work,” adding, “I just really feel like once he realizes that you know it’s something that he’s committed too. And then we can work on moving forward and wanting him to on this relationship with me. And I also don’t care anymore, but I do care. I know what I really want.”
