Sitanshu Kotak aka Shitanshu Hargovindbhai Kotak was born on Thursday, October 19, 1972 in Rajkot, Gujarat, India (age 51; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Libra. He started playing cricket at the age of thirteen and trained under the guidance of Saurashtra Ranji player Mahendra Rajdev. He later became a professional cricketer.

Sitanshu started playing for the Saurashtra Under-17 team in the 1989-90 season and played for the Saurashtra Under-19 team from 1990-91 to 1991-92. He played for the Gujarat U-19 team in the 1990-91 season and the West Zone U-19 team in the 1991-92 season. In the 1992-93 season, he played for Western University. From 1992-93 to 2013-14, he represented Saurashtra in all major domestic tournaments, including Ranji Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
From the 1994-95 season to the 2001-02 season, he played in the Western Conference. In the 1999-2000 Iran Cup, he scored a hundred on behalf of the Rest of India team against the Karnataka team with Anil Kumble and Javagar Srinath as bowlers. Sitanshu played for the Saurashtra Cricket Association XI in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.
He then played in various corporate cricket tournaments for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) from 2008-09 to 2013-14. He also captained BPCL and Saurashtra in several cricket tournaments. He retired from domestic cricket in October 2013.

In October 2014, he was appointed as the head coach of Saurashtra team. Prior to his appointment, he passed the Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board).
In 2016, he became the assistant coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Gujarat Lions. He has also coached BPCL in many cricket tournaments.
In August 2019, he became the head coach of India A team. Later, he became the batting coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and helped Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant bat.
In August 2023, he succeeded Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian national team in the T20I series against Ireland. In December 2023, he accompanied the Indian national team in the ODI series against South Africa.

- Sitanshu has spoken about his desire to play for India and claimed that he scored over 800 runs in the 1998-99 Ranji Trophy season, scoring hundreds in both the Deodhar Trophy and Duleep Trophy, Hoped to be selected for the Indian team; however, the selectors considered him to be 37 years old and did not give him a chance even though he was only 27 years old at the time.
- In the 2007-08 Ranji season, Sitanshu scored 168 points in the group stage match against Mumbai. He faced 543 balls over three days and batted for 796 minutes (13 hours and 16 minutes). Then Mumbai captain Amol Muzumdar got so frustrated after the match that he said he needed a Kotak massage (meaning a longer massage like the one Kotak played).
- In the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy semi-final against Mumbai, he batted for 5 hours and 25 minutes and scored 89 runs from 211 deliveries. According to reports, during the match, India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar told Sitanshu that he had heard that Kotak was playing for a long time and tiring the opponent. Tendulkar reportedly asked Kotak to hit one ball and leave.
