Slipknot's Sid Wilson Hospitalized with 'Serious Burns' from Bonfire 'Explosion': 'I'm Hanging in There'

Slipknot’s Sid Wilson is recovering after suffering serious burns.

The musician, 47, shared in a series of Instagram videos that he was hospitalized with “serious burns” after a fire “exploded” while he was working on his farm.

“Hey everyone, I had a blast in my face,” Wilson — who is in a relationship and has a son with Kelly Osbourne — said in a video posted on Friday, Aug. 23. “I’m fine. I’ll be fine. But I did have serious burns on my face and hands.”

He spoke into the camera as he wore an oxygen tube and lay in a hospital bed as medical staff treated his injuries. At various points in the video, staff could be seen asking Wilson to sit up and breathe while they dressed his wounds and took his vital signs.

“You see the phone shaking. It’s because I’m holding it and shaking. They’re doing extra X-rays to make sure I didn’t breathe in the flames,” Wilson continued.

“You can see I’m burned there,” he said then, pointing to his cheek. “My eyebrows are burnt. My mouth is full of blisters. My arm is pretty bad—both arms.”

The rocker noted that it will be “fine” and told fans that he doesn’t care “what it takes” but will “see” them on the “tour.”

In a subsequent video released hours later, Wilson could be seen riding in what appeared to be an ambulance with bandages wrapped around his neck. He explained that he had been transferred “to another facility” where they had better equipment to treat his burns.

“You can see that my lips are very bruised,” he said, showing his lips, which were quite swollen from filming his first video. “My hands are the worst. He’s going to shave my head, so say goodbye to long hair. It goes bye-bye.”

“But everyone, I’m fine. I’m OK… I’m a troop. Not really, but I’m holding up pretty well,” he reassured fans, adding: “I’m in good hands. I just wanted to come here and let everyone know I’m fine. Obviously, if I’m here talking to you the way I am, it’s not a big deal.”

He then answered fans’ questions about the incident, including how he got his burns. He said he didn’t get his burns from a “show” but from a “bonfire” on his farm where there were still “remnants” of flames. “I got a little whistle – a fire,” he explained, noting that he was “working on the farm” at the time.

“I’m going to be in LA – this is not going to stop me,” Wilson added, referring to his band’s upcoming sold-out shows in California on September 13th and 14th.

Slipknot also has concerts in Oklahoma, Washington, and Indiana in the coming weeks. The band’s website did not say whether those shows would be postponed while Wilson recovers. Slipknot is currently scheduled to perform at the Rocklahoma event on September 1st.
