Smita Patil is an Indian film, television and theater actress. She is considered the best Indian actress of her time. She has worked in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali films.

Smita Patil was born in Pune on October 17, 1955 (she died at the age of 31). She received her education from Renuka Swarup Memorial High School, Pune. Patil graduated from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. She was very passionate about drama when she was a student. She has participated in every program in the school. Before venturing into the film industry, Smita worked as a television newscaster in Doordarshan, Mumbai.

Smita made her film debut in 1975 with Shyam Benegal’s Charandas Chor. She made her debut in the Bollywood industry in 1974 with the film Mere Saath Chal. She is a well-known face in the industry for her most famous roles.
