Sofia Vergara arrived in style at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
The Griselda The star and producer, 52, is nominated for best lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her title role in the Netflix show, and wore a dramatic look to celebrate the success at the Sept. 15 awards show. (The proud Colombian-born actress is the first Latina in the history of the award to receive a nomination!)
Vergara was a true bombshell in a red Dolce & Gabbana floor-length sleeveless dress with a plunging sweetheart neckline. The dramatic dress clung to her curves with the material gathering just below the waist to create a beautiful flowing effect.
America has talent The judge accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and wore her brown hair down with soft curls at the bottom. She also kept her makeup simple, allowing her dress to shine.

Griselda is the first project for which Vergara has been nominated since 2013, when she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Modern family. She was also nominated in the same category in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
In order to play Griselda Blanco, the leader of a Colombian drug cartel, Vergara had to go through a drastic physical transformation to really get into the character. In February, she told PEOPLE that she spends “three hours a day in hair and makeup.”
The show’s director and executive producer, Andrés Baiz, also previously said in a Netflix video that Vergara’s transformation into a drug lord was “one of the most difficult aspects of the entire show.”

But to fully immerse herself in the world of the cocaine godmother, more than just a costume was needed. Speaking to PEOPLE in June 2023, she said she paid close attention to small but very important details, like the way she spoke and walked. “I didn’t want her to look like Gloria Pritchett with a fake nose. I wanted people to forget about Gloria – that was the main thing.”
“Maybe she wasn’t a Barbie doll, but the real Griselda Blanco had something — she had a kind of sexiness that I needed to show,” Vergara said. Diversity.
