Sofía Vergara Shines in Sparkly Gown and 140-Carat Diamond Necklace at the 2025 Golden Globes

Sofia Vergara brought her glitz to the 2025 Golden Globes.

The Griselda star and producer, 52, is nominated for best performance by an actress in a limited series, anthology series or a movie made for television for her title role in the Netflix series as Griselda Blanco, the leader of a Colombian drug cartel.

For her big night out on January 5, she wore a black glittery dress with a mermaid silhouette. She added even more sparkle to her look with loads of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. She wore a 140-carat diamond necklace with a 35-carat diamond in the center. She also wore 28-carat pear-shaped diamond earrings with a 25-carat diamond ring and a 7-carat diamond ring.

She wore her brown hair down and straight and wore an understated glam, opting to let her dress and jewels do the talking.

As for the transformation into her role, Vergara had to go through a drastic physical transformation to really get into the character. In February 2024, she told PEOPLE that she spends “three hours a day in hair and makeup.”

The show’s director and executive producer, Andrés Baiz, also previously said in a Netflix video that Vergara’s transformation into a drug lord was “one of the most difficult aspects of the entire show.”

In June 2023, she told PEOPLE that she paid close attention to small but very important details, like the way she talks and walks. “I didn’t want her to look like Gloria Pritchett with a fake nose. I wanted people to forget about Gloria – that was the main thing.”

Vergara’s 2025 nomination follows her previous Golden Globe nominations in 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010 in the same category for her work as Gloria Pritchett in Modern family.

In addition to receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her work in GriseldaVergara was also nominated for an Emmy at the 2024 Emmy Awards. At the September 2024 event, she wore a floor-length red Dolce & Gabbana sleeveless gown with a plunging sweetheart neckline. At the event, she wore Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and wore her brown hair down with soft curls at the bottom, finishing off her look with soft brown eyeshadow and pink lips.

Before September’s Emmy ceremony, Vergara also appeared at Hollywood’s biggest night: the 96th Academy Awards. At the March 10 event, Vergara appeared on the popular Vanity Fair afterparty in a sophisticated black Oscar de la Renta dress.

The strapless dress featured two small cutouts on her torso framed by two large bows that connected at the chest and hips. The mermaid dress accentuated her curves.

Just weeks before that, she wore a custom strapless gold Laura Basci gown to the film’s premiere on January 23 Griselda in Miami. To spice up the outfit, she added two cuff bracelets and dangling earrings. She paired the look with rose red lips and matching eye shadow.
