Soma Laishram was born on Sunday, January 5, 1992 (age 31; as of 2023) in Keishampat Dhobi Machu Leirak, Imphal, Manipur. Her zodiac sign is Capricorn. She studied at Little Flower School and Temple of Learning School in Imphal. In 2010, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English from GP Women’s College, Nandigama. Soma Laishram has worked as a child artist in many Manipur telenovelas, theater shows and plays. In 1999, she started hosting television shows on Doordarshan Manipur (DDK Imphal). As a teenager, Soma worked as a newscaster for a private news channel in Manipur. After her father died, she had to quit her job. She then began working with Neena Takhellambam, a famous choreographer and Soma’s cousin. According to Soma, Nina groomed her to become a model.

Manipur film industry banned for three years
In September 2023, Soma Laishram was banned from acting in films for three years by the Manipur civic body Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL). The ban was imposed after Soma attended a cultural event in New Delhi as a guest performer despite requests not to do so due to ongoing unrest in Manipur. On September 16, 2023, Soma Laishram spoke about the issues of Manipur and urged peace at the final event of the Northeast Students Festival in New Delhi. The ban has sparked controversy in the Manipur film industry.
