Sonali Singh, better known as Sonali Phogat, was an Indian actress and politician. She served as the national vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha. She died of a heart attack on August 22, 2022 in Goa.

Sonali Phogat made her television debut in 2006 as a host in a Haryanvi show on Indian Television. In 2019, she acted in the web series Badmashgar Stories. Sonali also acted in the music video of the Haryanvi song Bandook Aali Jaatni (2019).
She played the role of Nawab Shah’s wife in the television series Amma: Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma (2020). In 2020, she participated in the game reality show Bigg Boss 14 as a wild card contestant.
Political career
Sonali Phogat joined the BJP in 2008 and was subsequently appointed as the national vice president of the BJP.
In 2019, she contested the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, representing the Adampur constituency. However, she lost to Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi by a margin of 29,471 votes. Phogat has also worked for the BJP in tribal areas of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Later, she was appointed as the head of the BJP’s tribal wing in Haryana, New Delhi, and Chandigarh.

- Sonali’s speech at a rally in Balsamand village in Hisar city was heavily criticized. On October 8, 2019, Phogat asked people to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and said those who did not chant must be Pakistanis. However, she later apologized for making such remarks.
- On June 5, 2020, a video went viral in which Sonali slapped an official, Sultan Singh, with a slipper for making some inappropriate remarks. The incident took place when Sonali went to the Agricultural Produce Market Committee member, Sultan Singh, with a list of farmers’ complaints.

Sonali Phogat reportedly died of a heart attack in Goa on August 22, 2022. On August 25, 2022, her autopsy report was released, confirming multiple injuries on her body, following which Sonali’s family claimed that Sonali was raped by her two assistants, who then poisoned and killed her.
