Sonam Mukesh Yadav was born on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 (15 years old; as of 2022) in Raja Ka Taal, Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. Sonam grew up watching her brother play cricket and developed an interest in the sport herself. At the age of 13, Sonam began playing cricket with local boys in a nearby park. She was so good at bowling that she often dismissed players older than her. Seeing her interest in cricket, her brother enrolled her in the District Cricket Academy in Firozabad, where she trained under cricket coach Ravi Yadav. Sonam revealed in an interview that she is the only girl in the cricket academy. she says,
I’m the only one. All the boys there supported me and made me feel comfortable. I was very nervous when I joined the academy, but slowly and steadily I adapted with the help of the other players. “

Sonam Yadav’s father, Mukesh Yadav, works in a glass factory in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. Her mother Guddi Devi is a housewife. She has an elder brother, Aman Yadav, who also works in a glass factory. Aman was a cricketer in his early years but could not take up the sport due to some reasons. She also has three sisters. The name of one of her sisters is Sneh Lata.

A year after Sonam Yadav started training at the district cricket academy, she was selected for the Uttar Pradesh U19 women’s team. She made her debut for Uttar Pradesh U19 in 2018. In the 2018 T20 tournament, Sonam took three wickets against Andhra Pradesh women’s team and helped Uttar Pradesh win the title. In the same year, she made her debut for Uttar Pradesh. She also played in regional cricket academy competitions.

Sonam Yadav earned a spot in the U19 Indian Women’s Cricket Team New Zealand series after her impressive performance in the national cricket team, where she took 6 wickets in four games. She was subsequently selected for the India U19 women’s team to participate in the 2023 Women’s T20 U19 World Cup. After being selected for the team, Sonam was sent to Goa for four days of cricket training. Thereafter, she was sent to Visakhapatnam for further training. Sonam played 6 games in the World Cup and emerged as India’s leading wicket-taker with 5 wickets. Her best performance of the match was taking 2 wickets after scoring one run.
