Allegations help construction firm win contract in Rajasthan
In 2011, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leveled a slew of charges against Sonia Gehlot and Gautam Ankhad. In its complaint, the BJP claimed that Sonia and Gautam, through their connections in the Rajasthan government, helped the Kalpataru Group win several contracts in the state. The party also claimed that the couple got a luxury apartment worth Rs 8 crore in Mumbai for helping Kalapataru Group win the contract; however, Ashok Gehlot denied all the allegations, saying the It is false and was deliberately raised by the opposition and some media against his relatives. In its defence, the Kalpataru Group claimed that Sonia was given the apartment in lieu of her fees as an architect for the company.
