Sonia Sanwalka is an Indian writer. She is famous for being the daughter of popular Indian athlete Milkha Singh.

Sonia Sanwakar was born in Chandigarh. Her family originates from Pakistan. After the partition of India, her father immigrated to India from Muzaffargarh, a city in the Punjab province of British India (now Muzaffargarh district in Pakistan). Her mother was born in Sheikhupura, Punjab (now part of Pakistan) and later moved to India after the Partition.

In 2012, Sonia Sanwalka co-wrote with her father Milha Singh his autobiography, The Race of My Life: An Autobiography: A Poetic Journey. The book was published by Rupa Publications on September 11, 2021. The book received mixed reviews from audiences and critics.
In 2013, Sonia composed a Punjabi version of her father’s autobiography titled Bhag Milkha Bhag.
She has also published the book Bhag Milkha Bhag – Milkha Sinhni Aatmakatha (2014) in Gujarati.
Later, the Bollywood film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was released in 2013, which was inspired by Sonia’s book Race of My Life: An Autobiography: A Poetic Journey.

- Sonia has a brother whom her father adopted in 1999. Milkhar Singh adopted the seven-year-old son of Havildar Bikram Singh, who was killed in the Battle of Tiger Mountain.
- Her mother Nirmal Kaur died of Covid-19 on June 13, 2021.
- Her father Milkha Singh passed away on June 18, 2021 (five days after his wife’s death) after a month-long battle with Covid-19. He reportedly recovered from Covid-19 but later developed complications such as fever and decreased blood oxygen saturation.
