Sonu Kakkar is an Indian playback singer. She is the sister of Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar.

Sonu Kakkar was born on Saturday, October 20, 1979 in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand (40 years old as of 2019). Her zodiac sign is Libra. Sonu completed her 8th grade from a school in Rishikesh and further studies from an open boarding school. She never went to college. She has loved music since childhood and started singing in Jagrans at the age of 4. As she grew older, she started receiving invitations to sing in yagarans from nearby towns in Rishikesh.

Later, she moved to Mumbai and participated in Channel V’s singing reality show Indian Pop Star. Although Sonu didn’t win the competition, music director Sandeep Chowta spotted her and promised her a chance to sing in his next film.

Sonu Kakkar started her singing career in 2003 with the song “Babuji Zaara Dheer Chalo” from the movie “Dum”. Later, she lent her voice to the songs “Seduction Saavariya”, “Ishq Da Tadka”, “Kar Mundya” and “Lawani”. In 2014, she released the single “Urban Munda” which became widely popular.
