Mai Whelan won a historic $4.56 million when she claimed victory on the Squid Game: The Challenge — is now just about ready to have money in her bank account.
The 55-year-old immigration judge won the prize money back in February when she beat 455 other players in a series of grueling eliminations on the Netflix competition series.
“I feel like Tom Cruise Jerry Maguire,” she said Time. “Show me the money!”
Speaking about Whelan’s claim about the 10-month delay in payouts, a source close to production tells PEOPLE that the show’s winner was aware of the payout plan and will receive the prize money now that the show’s season one finale has aired. .

Whelan said she has already spent some of her expected winnings on a new look for Squid game gala — including a short haircut, a Ralph Lauren dress and Jimmy Choo shoes.
“I still feel guilty about it, but I think it’s deserved,” she said.
The Virginia native also hopes to find a “retirement home somewhere,” adding, “We don’t know where yet, but we’re happy where we are. We live on the water. It’s very peaceful.”

Along with his personal plans, Whelan plans to do well with the salary, saying Party tonight“I have charities that I want to contribute more to,” including “sponsoring children going to school and helping the elderly with their basic needs and health care. And also wildlife and the climate.”
“I think they are very important to how we see the world so that we can live in it and enjoy it for everyone, not just for us at the moment,” she explained.

Whelans win came after she and fellow contestant Phill played a final game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
“I don’t know whether to cry or cheer. I don’t know what to do,” she told Phil after winning the game.
In a confessional interview, she said: “Today just confirms that anything is possible. Even when [you] feeling down and scared, you have to pull yourself together, be a strong person and focus. Whatever you fear, fight it with everything you have and you can achieve anything. And I proved that tonight. I’m a winner.”
